PLANNING THE INSTALLATION OF AN ANTENNA (Antenna Installation)

Planning:-

The process of planning an installation can be divided into two stages.

Stage 1

Step 1:-

Finding out by speaking to the customer exactly what they desire. If they already have an antenna in place ask questions about how it is currently operating. Their answers will assist you in your selection.

Step 2:-

You must identify the transmitter or transmitters which is most likely to supply your digital signal with the best -

quality and quantity that will provide all the channels that the customer expects and will result in a reliable installation.

Step 3:-

This step becomes easier for the installer at the years of experience rolls by because you have to select an antenna that will receive the required broadcasts with the best possible gain. Carry a few different types of antennas with you so you can carry out a series tests to discover what is best for that locations.

Step 4:-

Purchase the materials required such as the appropriate cable, the connectors, the amp (if required), the spitters etc.

Step 5:-

Make sure you have all the relevent tools to carry out the job (including the correct signal meter). One important point is to make sure the rechargeable battery in your signal meter is fully charged. You don't want to climb on top of a 3 storey roof only to find out your batteries are flat.

Step 6:-

OH & S is extremely important with an installation therefore you must ensure that all safety equipment and concerns are fully checked / double checked and loaded up inside your van before you depart to the location.

The second stage of the planning process will happen at the location.

Stage 2

Step 1:-

100% confirm the customers requirements and their expectations. Some times they expect much more than any signal can deliver due to other variables out of your control

Step 2:-

The JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS or RISK ASSESSMENT must be carried out.

Step 3:-

The Antenna site survey.

IF YOU WANT KNOW MORE - JUST SEARCH...

Step 4:-

Physical inspection is carried out to visually inspect the existing installation, the possible new cable paths you will run with and the possible components you will install to complete the installation are then observied and noted.

Step 5:-

Then supply the customer with a written quote and the scope of the task at hand.

Step 6:-

Finally obtain a "written" consent from the owner to proceed and agreeing on the form of payment structure before the work has started.
