REGASING AN AIR CONDITIONER UNIT (SPLIT SYSTEM & DUCTED)

air condition installations kogarah

Regas of an air conditioner:

When regassing an air conditioner the correct procedure will prevent the system from leaking again. With ever system there are 2 main connection points (valves). Depending on the quality of the intial flare these may need to be re-flared.

If they are not properly done or tightened they may leak again and are the most common reason why the unit is leaking gas. Another issue could be the copper tubing used in the intial installation could be of poor quality copper.

If the system has been installed over 5 years ago this inferior copper could also be the problem due to its properties - did you know copper is porous?

Before any technician "TOPS UP THE SYSTEM WITH GAS" they must test it under pressure otherwise it's a waste of time:

• Firstly recover any refrigerant on air in the systems,
• Disconnect both ends of the interconnecting pipe work,
• Inspect the existing flares and if poor quality redo them,

• Tighten up those new flares to the correct tension,
• Then either nitrogen charge the unit or vacuum pump test,

• Recover & vac down the unit,
• Finally regas the unit and run tests.

  • Split System Regas = $575.00 inc gst.

  • Ducted Regas = $655.00 inc gst.

Sydney Metro Area.

Up to 2.5KG of refrigerant, $150 per Kg if required.

(Please note these refrigerant gas prices will vary depending on the industry price of the time) This was logged Oct 2013
